Madelinetosh, Pashmina 3 (4, 4, 5, 5, 5, 6) 360 yard
skeins.
NEEDLES
US 4 (3.5mm) circular needle, or size to obtain the correct
gauge, 80cm long.
US 3 (3.25mm) circular needle, or size to obtain the correct
gauge, 80cm long.
NOTIONS
4 stitch markers.
Row markers (optional)
4 buttons, 5/8” (15mm) in diameter
GAUGE
22 sts and 31 rows = 4 inches (10cm) after blocking
NOTES
The cardigan is knitted in one piece from the top down, in
reverse st st. Short-row shaping is worked on the back yoke
and front curve shaping is worked at the same time as the
raglan increases and then continues as the body is worked.
The trim for the front opening is picked up and worked along
the curved edge afterwards. A short row technique for this
pattern is explained on page 13. Schematics and
abbreviations are located on pages 9, 10 and 12.

Neck Trim: With smaller needle, CO 126 (138, 138, 138, 150, 150, 158) sts.
Row 1 (RS): Knit.
Row 2-5: Beginning with a purl row, work in st st.

from *3 more times, p to end.
Row 17 (WS): *K TO 1 st before marker, p1, sm, p1; repeat from * 3 more
times, k to end.
Repeat these 2 rows 15(17, 24, 26, 27, 28, 29) more times.
Sizes XS and S only
(Continue working sleeve raglan increases every alt row, but work front and
back raglan increases on every 4 th row):
Next row: *p to 1 st before next marker, k1, sm, k1, pfb, p to 2 st before
marker, pfb, k1, sm, k1; repeat from *, p to end.
Next row: as Row 17
Next row: as Row 16
Next row: as Row 17

FRONT CURVE SHAPING
When piece measures 2.75(3, 3.5, 3.5, 3.5, 3.5)” [7 (8, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9) cm] from
last row of Neck Trim at front edge, continue working raglan seam increase
AND AT THE SAME TIME work the first decrease row:
Next row (RS, decrease): p2tog, work in patt as established to 2 sts before
end, p2tog.
Next row (WS): Work in patt as established.
Tip for working the Front Curve Shaping at the same time as working the
Yoke:
When working the Front Curve decreases, place a row marker near the
beginning of each decrease row and count rows from the marker to find
the next decrease row.
Work Decrease Row again on the following rows:
Every 12 th row 2 times;
Every 6 th row 3 times;
Every 4 th row 7 times;
Then every alt row 13 times.
Work 1 WS row.
(Yoke will be completed while Front Curve Shaping is being worked.)
Continue Front Curve Shaping:
BO 2 sts at the beginning of next 14(14, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16) rows;
BO 3 sts at the beginning of next 8 (6, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8) rows;
BO 4 (4, 4, 4, 5, 6, 6) sts at the beginning of next 2 (4, 6, 4, 4, 4, 4)
rows;
BO – (5, -, 4) [9, 8, 11] sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows.
Front Curve Shaping is now complete.
Stitch count between raglan markers when yoke is complete:
Back: 90 (98, 106, 110, 116, 118, 124)
Sleeves: 64 (68, 70, 74, 76, 78, 80)
Total number of raglan increases for each front: 24 (26, 30, 32, 33, 34, 35).
SEPARATE BODY AND SLEEVE STITCHES
Leave stitches for one sleeve on needle. Place stitches for the other sleeve
and the back and front sections into scrap yarn. Remove all markers.
Leave working yarn attached to front section for working body later.
Sleeves (work both at the same time):
Attach new yarn and with RS facing, CO 1 (1, 1, 3, 4, 6, 8) st(s) purl sleeve
stitches, CO 1(1, 1, 3, 4, 6, 8) sts. 66 (70, 72, 80, 84, 90, 96) sts.
