Fake Punt

The fun thing about this is that Offensive gurus actually start seeing fourth down as a play! The rules are simple. Front 5 are using their 5 step pass protection rules. The stinger in motion is running an out pattern 1 yard past the sticks for the first down. If he does not get the pass when he hits the sideline he turns upfield looking to score on the streak!

The Tight End Play side is running a hook route 4 yards past the sticks. If his man rushes and does not cover. He is the HOT RECEIVER and should look for the ball immediately!

The Z receiver playside is running the same route as the Tight End.

The Punter is running a streak away from the play, the reason is that everybody in the defensive backfield keys the Punter. If he runs away from the play, I guarantee you there will be movement in his direction. This will give the Punt team an advantage in routes and pass protection.

The Quarterback wants the out route! (Unless there is pressure and he hits the hot pass!) The out route will be open only because the person covering him will be running with him across the line of scrimmage and will be at least a step behind him. If they are in a zone coverage, that means one of the hooks will be open.

I am not telling you this will work everytime, but as I sit here typing all of this, I really cannot remember when one did not work. Of course they were all set up during the game, but it sure is an emotion builder when they pull it off!
