Materials required : 2 shuttles or needles, 24 5x16 mm dagger beads. Size 20-
30 thread. Small glass ornament about 2 1/2 inches diameter. Tapestry needle.
Model was tatted with Altin Basak size 50 (really a 20-30) thread, color 3053, 12
crystal matte AB dagger beads, 12 light sapphire AB matte dagger beads.
Abbreviations:
R Ring fppr irst picot previous ring
C Chain lppr last picot previous ring
SS Switch shuttles ds double stitch
CTM continuous thread method CT&H Cut, tie and hide ends
B Bead (...)x4 Repeat what is in parentheses
+ Join 4 times
lj Lock (shuttle) join
TOP
Row 1: R 4-3-3-4. RW. * C 3-3-3-3. RW. R 4+(to lppr)3-3-4. RW. * Repeat from * to * for a total of 12 R
and 12 C. Join last picot of last R to irst picot of irst R. CT&H.
Row 2: * R 3-3-3+(middle picot of chain)3-3-3. RW. C 4-4. SS. R 3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3. SS. C 4-4. RW. * Re-
peat from * to * for a total of 12 small R and 12 large R. CT&H.
Row 3: Join to 3rd picot of any large ring, row 2. C 4-4 lj (5th picot same ring) 4-4 * lj (to 3rd picot, next ring)
4-4 lj (5th picot same ring) * Repeat from * to * around. CT&H.
Row 4: String 12 beads onto thread and keep near the ball. Wind about 1 1/2 yards onto shuttle CTM. When
called for, move bead into place as if it were a picot. Join thread to picot, any chain of row 3.
C (4 irst half of ds, 4 2nd half of ds)x4 B (4 irst half of ds, 4 2nd half of ds)x4 lj (skip 1 chain, join to picot in
next chain). Repeat for a total of 12 beaded chains. CT&H.
Row 5: String 12 beads onto thread and keep near ball. Wind about 1 1/2 yards onto shuttle CTM. Join thread
to any available picot, row 3. Make sure you do ALL lock joins in this row either in front or behind row 4.
These rows overlap. Model was tatted so that row 4 was in front of row 5 (ie. row 5 will be closest to ball).
C 4-4-4-4 B 4-4-4-4 lj (to next available picot, row 3). Repeat for a total of 12 beaded chains. CT&H.
BOTTOM
Repeat Rows 1 and 2 of TOP.
ASSEMBLING
Place top section over top of ornament and rest the ornament on the bottom section. Use at least 12-18” (sorry,
I didn’t measure the thread I used!) and a tapestry needle. Put the thread through the middle picot, large ring of
bottom section, through bead hole of closest bead in Row 5. Repeat around ornament and snug thread up uni-
formly. Tie thread with a square knot and cut ends close. Use a little dab of glue if needed on knot.

Putting It Together
Row 2
With length of thread, thread through
middle picot of bottom large ring, then
through bead eye of Row 5. Continue
around. Tie thread ends together with a
square knot. Cut ends close and glue
knot if needed.
