CENTRAL LOCKING - Description
The lock motors of all four doors are activated simultaneously upon a command:
from the ignition;
from the front door switches (knobs);
from the remote control;
from the switch on the tunnel.
Lock operation is controlled by the integrated service control unit.
The control unit monitors lock status by means of signals received from switches located on the four locks. A lock command is issued only when all
doors are properly closed and the front locks are released. Conversely, a release command is issued only when the front catches are locked.
The control unit also runs a series of safety checks:
switch position is checked at the end of each operation. If this position does not agree with the action carried out (e.g. if a door is open), a
repulsion command is issued, i.e. the opposite manoeuvre is carried out to realign all the locks.
if the control unit detects several complete, consecutive lock/release manoeuvres - at least 8 within 20 seconds - the system cuts in to limit
the manoeuvres: the system is inhibited in release position for 30 seconds
If battery voltage drops below 9 V during a lock/release operation, the system suspends the operation. If battery voltage is lower than 9 V at
the outset, no command is issued.
The doors are automatically unlocked if the inertia switch is operated.
The circuit for the integrated services control unit is protected by a special fuse in the junction unit.

CENTRAL LOCKING - Functional description
The integrated services control unit M40 manages the operation of the central door locking system.
Control unit M40 is supplied directly by the battery pin 7 of connector B from the line protected by fuse F63 of the luggage compartment junction
unit B45; pin 6 of connector B is earthed.
The control unit M40 receives the commands to lock (pin 5 of connector C) or unlock (pin 12 of connector C) the front doors, coming from the
switches (handles) in the front locks N50 and N51, or the remote control receiver M35 (pins 6 and 13 of connector C)

The control unit M40 also receives signals at pin 17 and 19 of connector C for the switch in the control unit on the tunnel H36 for locking/unlocking
the doors from the inside.
The control unit M40 commands the locks on the basis of the logic illustrated previously: the lock/unlock signals for the motors of the front doors
( N50 and N51) and rear doors (N55 and N56) come from pins 5 and 4 of connector B.
The control unit also receives control signals on the status of the locks at pins 13, 14, 15 and 16 of connector B of M40 which are the same signals
that light up the 'doors open' LEDs in the instrument panel and which control the timed operation of some lights

The locks are unlocked whtn the intertia switch I50, which is connected to pin 12 of connector B of M40, is operated.
