To the increasing number of readers who have asked me
for an index of projects from past issues, I can reply that an
index is in the process of being compiled and we hope to
have it ready later this year.
I've also been getting requests for binders for storage of
back issues and this is another worthwhile item that we
hope to make available as soon as possible. My thanks to all
of you who have taken the time to offer suggestions.
Murphy's Law
Most of you are probably familiar with Murphy's Law
which states that "Whatever can go wrong, probably will".
1 thought it would be fun to apply Murphy's Law to wood-
working and came up with the following examples which
I'm sure many readers can readily (and ruefully) relate to:
I. When you drop a mitered workpiece on the floor, it
aIway s lands on a corner.
2. It always rains when you've got to transport a newly fin-
ished piece of furniture.
3. When you need a 36 inch long piece of stock, the piece
with the "perfect" grain is only 35 inches long.
4. A dropped chisel always Iands on its cutting edge.
5. The telephone always rings just afteryou've begun a crit-

Dan's a Technical Illustrator with considerable skill and ex-
perience in the often frustrating art of taking a piece of
furniture and exploding it graphically to show how every-
ical glue-up .... and you're home alone.

We Get Letters
As our circulation continues to grow, the volume of in-
coming mail rises proportionately and what started as a
trickle has now become a torrent. There was a time when I
took pleasure in personally answering all the mail ad-
dressed to me. I regret that this is no longer possible,
although I do continue to read all letters addressed to me.
