Easter Egg

April 1999

I designed this Easter egg for the flat egg exchange in April of 1999.  A knowledge of mock picots and split rings is needed to do this pattern.  This pattern can be done in one, two or three colors as shown here. It also looks cute in verigated thread.

SR    =   Split Ring                     Ch    =   Chain
R      =   Ring                            " - "   =   Picot
" + "  =   Join                              rw   =   Reverse
DNR  =  Do Not Reverse

Round Medallion :

  R    4 - 4 - 4 - 4 - 4 - 4 - 4 - 4 close ring leaving enough thread for a mock picot, rw
  SR  4 - 4 / 4 - 4 rw
  Ch  4 - 4 - 4 - 4 rw
* R   4 + 4 + 4 - 4 rw
  Ch  4 - 4 - 4 - 4 rw
Continue from " * " until you have a total of 8 rings and chains. Join to base of first ring and chain, cut and tie.

Clover Leaf :

   R    4 + 4 - 4 - 4 - 4 rw (join to any center picot of medallion chain)
   Ch  4 rw
   R    4 + 8 - 8 - 4 rw (join to picot of previous ring)
   Ch  4 rw
   R    4 + 4 - 4 + 4 rw (first join to picot of previous ring, next join to center picot of next
                                   medallion chain, cut and tie)

Outline :

   Ch  16 DNR (lock stitch to center picot of next chain. Continue around the bottom of the
                       medallion until you reach the bridge between the medallion and the clover)
   Ch  18 DNR (lock stitch to picot of  clover)
   Ch  14 DNR (lock stitch to picot of next ring)
   Ch  14 DNR (lock stitch to picot of next ring)
   Ch  18 DNR ( lock stitch to next center picot of medallion chain. Cut and tie)
