StudioLine ========== This document describes how to install StudioLine from CD-ROM. Installing StudioLine --------------------- A couple of Microsoft components are required to run StudioLine. For your convenience, these are included on the CD-ROM. These components are: Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher, and MDAC 2.5.2 or higher. Some, or all of these, might already be installed on your system. This depends on the exact version of your operating system and all other applications you have installed. StudioLine Setup will determine which components are missing and will help you install them if necessary. If you don't want to manually install some other version of these components, simply insert the CD-ROM (or double-click Setup.exe if the Autorun feature of your CD-ROM drive has been disabled) and follow the on-screen instructions. Once the installation is complete, please fill out and mail the registration card. Starting the Application ------------------------ Just click the Start button, choose Programs and select StudioLine. Installation Support -------------------- If Setup does not complete the installation successfully, we recommend that you take the following steps before contacting H&M Systems Software for assistance: - Double check the system requirements listed on the packaging. - Save your work in progress and exit Windows. - Shut down your system and restart it after 3 seconds. - Close all applications -- the Taskbar should be empty. - Rerun Setup. If Setup still does not run properly, it may be affected by other hardware or software that is installed on your computer. Windows help contains troubleshooting aids to help you determine the cause of the problem. To use the Windows troubleshooting wizards: - Click the Start button. - Click Help. - At the Contents tab, click Troubleshooting, and then pick a topic from the list. If you have difficulty installing or operating this software, you may telephone H&M Systems Software's installation hotline at 1-201-934-3414, Ext. 3. Please have your PC turned on and the StudioLine CD in the drive. Installation support is provided from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday. Please note that you have thirty days from your first call to take advantage of installation support. Registered users may also contact H&M Systems Software via electronic mail 24 hours a day. Consult the FAQ section in the online help for further information. Fine-tuning the Installation ---------------------------- In case you want to install other versions of the Microsoft components, here's how to: - MDAC 2.5.2: this component exists in various languages. Only Windows 2000 and Windows Millennium Edition include MDAC 2.5.2 automatically (Windows XP includes MDAC 2.7). StudioLine Setup will determine the language of your operating system and will install the corresponding MDAC version. If your operating system is in a language other than English, French, German, or Italian, you might want to download the appropriate version from Microsoft's web site. For space reasons, we cannot provide all versions on the StudioLine CD-ROM. StudioLine Setup will install the English version for operating systems in languages other than the above. MDAC will work just fine, but any messages it might issue will be in English language. If you want to install a newer version of MDAC than 2.5.2, this is just fine as well. Note, however, that we cannot provide support if you installed a beta version of MDAC. (At the time of writing this, MDAC 2.7 is the newest non-beta version.) - Internet Explorer: StudioLine requires a version of Internet Explorer of 4.0 or higher to display the online help files. Internet Explorer is not needed to run StudioLine itself, although there should be a browser capable of displaying DHTML to view published pages. Currently, two browser families are supported by StudioLine: Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher, and Netscape 4.0 or higher. Both families' newest members (Internet Explorer 6.0 and Netscape 7.0) are included on the StudioLine CD-ROM in English, French, German and Italian. StudioLine Setup will offer these versions if it determines that older versions are currently installed. StudioLine will call for the installation of Internet Explorer if it is not already installed, as it is required to display the online help files.
