Billy Gigabyte’s hobby is surfing the Internet.
Hi, my name’s Bertha and I’m 12 years old. I’m from Switzerland. I live on a big farm. I love the mountains. In my free time, I like surfing the Internet and playing computer games. My favourite drink is water.
What about you?
Give Dino some tips to get better:
· Take computer lessons
· ………………………………………………………………………
Dino is still learning to use a computer. He’s not very good at it yet. His older brother gave him his old desktop computer when he bought a laptop.
Prepare some questions for Bertha:
· (favourite food) What’s your favourite food?
· (sisters or brothers) …………………………………………………………………………
· (favourite website) ……………………………………………………………………………
· (how often) …………………………………………………………………………………………
· (when) ……………………………………………………………………………………………………
Now talk about yourself.

The making of this worksheet
I just wanted to share with you how I got the idea of making this worksheet. I was actually designing a new template and was about finished. I had no idea what kind of worksheet it would become.
I started surfing the Internet and checked out some of my latest free clip art bookmarks. I ended up at www.cartoonclipart.com which has lots of free cartoon clip art that is amazing. I browsed randomly and downloaded some I liked. I found four computer clip art images and decided to use those. The theme of the ws would be computers and the Internet.
I decided to divide the worksheet into different sections. The skills I included are reading (but not with comprehension questions because I find those particularly boring and most course already have plenty). I included some speaking exercises and hope students will use this to present themselves and friendsto the class and thus get some indispensable speaking practice.
I also included some writing tasks as writing and asking questions is often an important skill later in life (emails, studying abroad, chatting, socialising, etc.). I also hope the students will pick up some the Internet-related vocabulary and start using it actively and correctly – I’ve just about had it with people telling me ‘I like play game’ or ‘I play Internet’.
I hope you’ll enjoy it.
DIY (Do it yourself)
Please feel free to use this worksheet as a template to create your own exercise.
Either follow the steps I took or try to come up with some good ideas of your own.
