Materials Required:
Thin Blue card 9cm x 20cm.
Scraps of card: Silver and Black.
Brown card 8cm x 10cm.
Acetate 4cm x 6cm: PET01.
Rubber stamp or
Gold Label greeting.
Sharp craft knife and
cutting mat.
Embossing tool.
Standard hole punch.
Tracing paper.
Overhead projection pen.
Small wave edge scissors.
Sticky fixers and double sided tape.
Bow paper punch: PPU73 (similar).
Card mount: DEC1U-29, Dark Blue.

To Make The Card:
Place the tracing paper
over the diagram on the pre-
vious page and trace all the
pieces except the windows
and parcel but including the
outline of the door.
Place the tracing face up
onto the relevant colour card
for each piece in turn. Draw
over the design using an
embossing tool and pressing
firmly to indent the card
beneath. This works best if
you place the card onto a
slightly soft base such as
an old magazine.
Cut out all the pieces
except the tyres using a craft
knife. Cut the door out of
the body along the lines marked. Use the ‘small
wave’ edge scissors to cut out the tyres.
Use the photograph as a guide when assem-
bling the pieces. Stick the door back into place
using a little tape on the back. Place the clear
acetate over the diagram of the window and
using the overhead projection pen, draw the
shapes directly onto the acetate. Cut it out
making sure you keep just inside the line on
the front edge of the window or it will show
on the finished design. Stick the window on
the reverse of the truck body using small pieces
of double sided tape. Place a small piece of
tape onto the end of the steering column and
stick at an angle behind the window.
Stick the long strips of silver onto the body
and use sticky fixers for the headlamp and
bumper ends. Use the embossing tool to indent
a ‘U’ shaped door handle onto the top silver
strip towards the back edge of the door.
paper is too floppy. Below are some alternatives
you could use to achieve a similar result:
1. Cut the parcel from thin card and wrap a
piece of kraft paper around it using double
sided tape on the back.
2. Sandwich two pieces of kraft paper together
with glue or photomount to stiffen it, then cut
the parcel from this.
3. Rule slightly darker brown pencil lines across
a piece of smooth brown card.
Stamp the greeting onto the parcel if you
have a birthday stamp, if not use stickers or
write the message by hand.
Place a 7cm length of double sided tape onto
the back of a strip of silver card then cut a 2mm
wide strip from it for the parcel string, peel off
the backing and stick along the centre of the
parcel trimming off any excess. Punch out a
silver bow and use double sided tape to attach
it onto the parcel at the top of the string.
Use a couple of pieces of tape to stick the
parcel to the inside edge of the truck. Place
pieces of sticky fixer onto the back of the truck
and parcel. Position the truck on the front panel
of card and press into place.
Punch two circles from silver card using the
hole punch and assemble the wheels as follows.
Stick the hole punched dots onto the centre of
the silver hubcaps. Use the embossing tool to
indent four small dots onto the hubcaps to look
like fixing bolts. Use small pieces of sticky fixers
to attach the hubcaps to the silver wheel guards.
Use sticky fixers again to fix the wheel guards
onto the body of the truck.
I managed to find some stiff brown kraft
paper for the parcel, it looks much better than
plain brown card but normal thickness kraft
You could fill the truck with all sorts of differ-
ent presents to suit the recipient. For a teenager
who enjoys music, how about this musical
version (above). For a keen gardener you could
fill the truck with pictures of beautiful plants,
sports equipment for someone who enjoys
excercise or tools for a DIY enthusiast.
