Information for the program Win-Eclipse: The program needs not to be installed - it can be started directly from diskette or CD rom. By terminating the program attempts to store some settings in a file WINECL.INI , if you started the program from CD (or write protected diskette) this is not possible. The parameter AspectXY in the WINECL.INI file is normally set to 1.33333 ( = 4/3), which is the ususal width / height ratio of a computer display. If Your display has another width / height ratio the images of earth globe appear distorted and this can be corrected by changing the AspectXY value. The parameter StatusWndFont determines the font size used in the statuswindows of the program. New features in version 3.3: By clicking the right mouse button a context menu is available which allows one to change the position of the name of a city relative to the circle representing the city. See "Loading City-Coordinates" in the help file. There is also a third projection of the chart of the earth available, the "Lambert projection". See menu Calculation / Settings... New features in version 3.4: In the general settings (menitem Special / General Settings...) there is a checkbox "Exact calculation". If this checkbox is checked then a very accurate new method is used for calculating the time and duration of a central eclipse at a certain location on earth. The disadvantage of this accurate method is a significant higher demand on computing power. There is also a new method used to draw the globe of the earth which is much faster than the previously used method and has the advantage that in the projection "Globe" the sea can be colored also if it is zoomed in. New features in version 3.5: All dialogs have been changed to Windows common dialogs. Some bugs have been fixed (thanks to Sheridan Williams (www.clock-tower.com) for reporting bugs to me !). Under the menuitem View / Starchart a starchart is shown for the actual eclipse, at the selected location. Known problems: With very slow computers the centering of a location by double-click does not work. In some cases this can be avoided by increasing the time intervall between the two mouseclicks (change this value in the system panel). Under Windows 3.1 the depiction of the earth, using the projection "Globe" works correctly only if the zoom value is smaller than 1.1. Work around: set NewDrawMethod=0 in WINECL.INI. Using certain grphics adapters the depiction of the earth using the projection "Globe" is very slow (reason unkwown). Work around: Either set NewDrawMethod=0 in WINECL.INI or use the Lambert-projection.
