DirectX is a Microsoft component and is only required if you plan to use DirectX audio plug-ins (sometimes called ActiveMovie plug-ins). Cubase comes complete with support for VST plug-ins so DirectX this is not needed for every installation. DirectX is not suitable fro every computer, and may conflict with the current versions of your monitor/screen driver (amoungst others). Please check with your device manufacturer to see if all your other DirectX Drivers are DirectX 7 compatible before proceeding. Steinberg cannot accept and responsibility for computer setup conflicts if you choose to install DiectX 7.
