On April 1, 2009, users trying to run Femap Express found that it stopped with an Error: "NASTRAN was unable to solve the model as it was defined by Femap Express. You might try changing the part geometry or mesh size or condider using Femap for this analysis." The problem is actually related to a date check, carried out in an initialization routine that is run at startup of the Nastran code. Siemens PLM has resolved the problem with a software patch that changes a binary integer value and in effect changes the date check algorithm to allow the program initialization to proceed. To install the patch: - Download and unzip the SEV20FemapExpressPatch.zip file to a local folder. - Place the analysis.exe file in the [installdir]\Solid Edge 20\FEMAP Express\nastran\nxn4\i386 folder to replace the original Analysis.exe.
