VI. THINKING AND CREATING
I have sad that man does not thnk; that t s I, wthn hm, Who do hs thnkng.
I have aso sad man thinks he thnks.
As ths s an apparent contradcton. I needs must show you that man, ordnary,
does not thnk, any more than he does anythng ese he supposes he does.
For I, wthn hm, do all that he does; but I necessary do t through hs
organsm, through hs personaty, hs body, mnd and sou.
I wl pont out how ths can be.
Frst, try to reaze that I made you n My Image and Lkeness, and that I have
My Beng within you. Even f you do not know ths now and beeve that I, God,
AM somewhere wthout, and that we are separated, try for the tme beng to
imagine I AM wthn you.
Next, reaze that whch you do when you thnk s not real thnkng, because t s
not conscious thnkng; for you are unconscious of Me, the Insprer and
Drector of every dea and thought that enters your mnd.
Next, reaze because I AM within you, and you are My Image and Lkeness, and
therefore possess al of My Facutes, you have the power of thnkng; but not
beng conscous that thnkng s creatng and that t s one of My Dvne Powers
you are usng you have ndeed al your fe been thnkng, but t has al been mis-
thnkng, or what you woud cal error-thnkng.
And ths error-thnkng, ths not knowng t s My Power you have been thus
msusng, has been separatng you n conscousness farther and farther from Me;
but al the tme fufng My Purpose, whch ater on wl be made manfest to you.
The proof of ths s, you think you are separated from Me, that you are vng n a
materal Word, that your body of Fesh engenders and harbors peasure and pan,
and that an evl nfuence, caed the Dev, s manfestng n the word, opposng
My W.

Yes, you thnk al these thngs are so.
They are - to you, for al thngs are to man?s mortal conscousness what he
thinks or believes they are.
I have kewse caused them to appear to man to be what he thinks they are.
Ths aso s to sut My purpose, and to fufl the aw of creatng.
Let us see f ths s not true.
If you believe a thng s so, s not that thng reay so - to you?
Is t not true that a thng seems real to you, ke some sn or ev, so-caed, some
sorrow, troube or worry, ony because your thnkng or beevng t so makes t
such? Others mght see that thng entrey dfferenty and mght thnk your vew of
t foosh. Mght they not?
If ths s true, then your body, your personaty, your character, your
envronment, your word, are what they appear to be to you, because you have
thought them nto ther present status.
Therefore you can change them by the same process, f they do not pease
you; you can make them whatever you w, by thinking them so. Can you not?
But how can one do real thnkng, conscious thnkng, so as to brng about ths
change? You ask.
Frst know that I, your Real Self, purposey brought to your attenton these
thngs whch now are dspeasng and whch cause you to think them as beng
what they now seem to be to you. I, and I aone, AM thus preparng your human
mnd so that, when you turn wthn to Me n abdng Fath and Trust, I can enabe
you to see and brng nto outer manfestaton the Reality of these thngs whch
now seem so unsatsfactory.
For I brng to you everythng that, by ts outer seemng, can attract or ure your
human mnd onward n ts earthy search, n order to teach you of the usorness
of al outer appearance of materal thngs to the human mnd, and of the fabty
of al human understandng; so that you wl turn fnay within to Me and My
Wsdom, as the One and Ony Interpreter and Gude.
When you have turned thus wthn to Me, I wl open your eyes and cause you to
see that the ony way you can ever brng about ths change n thnkng, s by frst
changing your attitude toward al these thngs you now thnk are not what they
ought to be.
That s, f they are unsatsfactory or obnoxous to you and affect you so as to
cause you dscomfort of body or dsturbance of mnd, -- why, stop thinking that
they can so affect or dsturb you.
For who s the master? - Your body, your mnd, or You, the I AM wthn?
Then why not show You are master, by thnkng the true thngs the I AM of you
wthn wshes you to thnk?
It s ony by your thinking these other thngs, by aowng these nharmonous
thoughts to enter your mnd and by so dong giving them the power so to affect
or dsturb you, that they have any such nfuence over you. When you stop
thnkng into them ths power, and turn within to Me and allow Me to direct
your thinking, they wl at once dsappear from your conscousness, and dssove
nto the nothngness from whch you created them by your thinking.
When you are wng to do ths, then and then ony are you ready to receve
Truth, and, by proper conscous thnkng, drected by Me, to create the true and
permanent thngs I wthn wsh you to create.
Then, when you can thus dstngush the true from the fase, the real from the
seemng, your conscous thnkng wl be as potent to create al thngs you desre,
as has been your unconscousness thnkng n the past n creatng those thngs
you once desred but now fnd obnoxous.
For t was by your unconscous thnkng, or thnkng unconscous of the control
your desres exercsed over your creatve power, that your word and your fe are
now what you sometme n the past desred them to be.
Have you ever studed and anayzed the process of the workng of your mnd when
a new Idea ferte wth possbtes appears?
Have you notced the reaton that Desre bears to such an Idea, and how,
through thinking, that Idea s fnay brought to actual fruton?
Let us study ths reaton and process.
There s aways frst the Idea, not consderng at ths moment the necessty or
occason for Its appearance. It matters not whence the Idea comes, from wthn or
wthout; for t s aways I who nspre It or cause It to mpress your conscousness
at the partcuar moment t does.
Then, just to the extent that you grow quet and focus your attenton upon that
Idea, stng al the actvtes of your mnd and emnatng al other deas and
thoughts from your conscousness, so that Idea can have ful sway, do I umne
your mnd and cause to unfod before your mental gaze the varous phases and
possbtes contaned wthn that Idea.
Ths takes pace, however, up to ths pont, wthout any voton on your part,
other than focusng or concentratng your attenton upon the Idea.
Once I have gven your human mnd a vew of Its possbtes, and have ensted
your nterest, then does your human personaty take up ts task; for as I created
and nspred the Idea n your mnd, so dd I cause that Idea to fructfy theren and
gve brth to Desre, -- desre to brng nto outer manfestaton al the possbtes
of the Idea, Desre thus becomng the mortal agent of My Wl and suppyng the
motve Power; just as the human personaty s the mortal nstrument used to
confne and focus that Power.
Yes, al deas and al desres come thus from Me. They are My Ideas and My
Desres whch I nspre n your mnd and heart n order to brng them through you
nto outer manfestaton.
You have no deas of your own and coud not possby have a desre that came
from other than Me, for I AM al there Is. Therefore all desres are Good, and
when thus understood unfangy come nto speedy and compete fufment.
You may wrongy nterpret My Desres, My Urges from wthn, and seek to use
them for your own sefsh purpose, but even whe permttng ths they stl fufl
My Purpose. For t s ony by ettng you msuse My Gfts and by the sufferng such
msuse brngs, that I can make you nto the cean and sefess channel I requre
for the perfect expresson of My Ideas.
We have, then, frst the Idea n the mnd; then the Desre to brng the Idea nto
outer manfestaton.
So much for the reaton. Now for the process of reazaton.
In accordance wth the defnteness wth whch the pcture of the Idea s hed n
the mnd, and the extent to whch the Idea possesses the personaty, does ts
creatve Power, mpeed by Desre, proceed wth Its work. Ths It does by
compeng the mortal mnd to think out or to magne (mage n), or, n other
words, to bud mental forms nto whch I can pour, as nto a vacuum, the
Impersona, eementa, vtal substance of the Idea. When the Word s spoken,
ether senty or audby, conscousy or unconscousy, ths substance at once
begns to materaze Itsef, by frst drectng and controng the conscousness
and al the actvtes of both mnd and body, and of al mnds and al bodes
connected wth or reated to the Idea, -- for remember, al conscousness, and al
mnds and al bodes are Mne, and are not separated but are One and whoy
Impersona, -- and then so attractng, drectng, shapng and modng condtons,
thngs and events that, sooner or ater, the Idea actuay comes forth nto
defnte, tangbe manfestaton.
So t s that every thng, every condton, every event that ever transpred, was
frst an Idea n the mnd. It was by desrng, by thinking, and by speakng forth
the Word, that these deas came nto vsbe manfestaton.
Thnk ths out and prove t for yoursef.
Ths you can do, f you w, by takng any Idea that comes and foowng t out
through the above process to reazaton; or by tracng back any feat you have
accompshed, any pcture you have panted, any machne you have nvented, or
any partcuar thng or condton now exstng, to the Idea from whch t sprang.
Ths s the pan and process of al true thnkng, and therefore of al Creaton.
Lsten! You have now and aways have had, through ths power of thnkng,
domnon over al the kngdoms of the earth. If you but know t. You have now,
ths moment, ony to Thnk and SPEAK THE WORD, -- reazng your power, and
that I, God, your Omnscent, Omnpresent, Omnpotent Sef, wl brng about the
resuts, -- and the watng conscousness of the nvsbe ces of al matter upon
whch your wl and attenton become focused, -- whch watng conscousness s
My conscousness, remember, -- wl begn mmedatey to obey and do exacty
accordng to the mage or pans you have prepared by your thinking.
For al thngs are made by the Word, and wthout the Word was not anythng
made that was made.
When you can once reaze ths and can know that I AM Conscousness wthn you
s one wth the conscousness of al anmate and nanmate matter, and that Its
wl s one wth your w, whch s My W, and that al your desres are My Desres,
then wl you begn to know and feel Me wthn, and wl acknowedge the Power
and Gory of My Idea, whch s eternay expressng Itsef Impersonay through
you.
But t s frst whoy necessary that you earn HOW to think, how to know Your
thoughts, those drected by Me, from the thoughts of others; how to trace
thoughts back to ther source and to bansh undesrabe ones at wl from your
conscousness; and fnay how to control and utilize your desres so that they wl
aways serve YOU, nstead of your beng a save to them.
You have wthn you al possbtes. For I AM there. My Idea must express, and It
must express through you. It wl express tsef perfecty - f you but et t; f you
wl ony stl your human mnd, put asde al personal deas, beefs and opnons,
and et f fow forth. Al you need to do s to turn wthn to Me, and let Me direct
your thinking and your desres, et Me express whatever I w, you personay
acceptng and doing what I desre you to do. Then wl your desres come true,
your fe become one grand harmony, your word a heaven and your sef one wth
My Sef.
When you have begun to reaze ths and have gmpsed somewhat of ts nner
meanng, then you wl be ready to grasp the real mport of what foows.
