9301 A Coat Variation
Instructions to make the Alden raincoat out of the Talea 9301 Pattern:
1. Cut out all pieces of the Talea 9301 Coat pattern. The only difference with this coat
and the new raincoat is an additional yoke over top the front and back of the coat. You
might also want to take out the loops on top of the shoulder and from the shoulder to the
front.
Cut out all pieces of the yoke: Front, Center Back, and Side Back. Each of these pieces is
cut twice. Each piece includes 5/8” (1.5 cm) seam allowance.
2. Finish the bottom edge of the yoke pieces,
since this will stand away from the body of the
coat. Finish by turning in along yoke edge ¼”
twice, and topstitch along edge.
3. To insert the front yoke, you sew it,
wrong side of yoke onto the right side of
the coat, sandwiched in between the collar,
neckline, shoulder, and armhole.
4. To sew the back yoke, first sew the
Center back pieces together with the side
back pieces, creating one full back yoke.
Now you can insert this into the back
between the collar, neckline, shoulder and
armhole, as illustrated in the creation
pictures.
5. Continue sewing rest of coat as instructed in Talea 9301 Instructions.
