Note - Basic knowledge required! And I'm using Photoshop CS3 for this tutorial..but I'm sure it does work on other versions as well =)

Before we can start, you will need these brushes for making your flower girl :

Flower brushes, Vector brushes, Watercolor Brushes and Swirl brushes.

You can find your own brushes to use if you want, but I'm using those. ^^

So you can load the brushes in your Photoshop since they're already in .abr format.

Before :

After :

Okay, so let's start!

1. Open any photo you want. I'm using this one ( Credit to IStockPhoto.com ) :

2. Click on your Polygonal Lasso Tool http://cbimg9.com/tutorials/08/10/13884ac.jpg( if you don't find it in your tools box, right click on your Lasso Tool and you'll find it there ) and with the Polygonal Lasso Tool, draw a selection around the girl like this :

If you don't know how to do that, follow this tutorial.

3. Go to Select > Inverse. Hit the Delete or the Backspace button on your keyboard. The background will vanish and you will have only the girl on your document like this :

4. Click on File > New & apply these settings :

Copy and paste the girl into your new document and place her wherever you want using the Move tool.

5. Now we will give the girl a little dark-ish kinda look, so that the girl image blends well with the colors I'll be using for my brushes, so for that, press Ctrl + M ( to bring up the Curves window ) and apply these settings -

Watch the difference! -

You don't need to do this if you don't like how it turned out.

6. Now double click on the girl layer and select Drop Shadow in the Blending Options and apply these settings -

And then select Stroke and apply these settings -

So that makes it look lifted up! xD

7. Make a new layer [ Layer > New > Layer ], and draw some flowers with the flower brushes. I'm using black, grey and light blue colors. So far, mine looks like this -

Then add a Stroke ( Blending Options > Stroke ) to it -

8. Make a new layer again, select the first watercolor brush -

and brush over the white parts with some nice colors -

9. Make a new layer again, and with the Swirl brushes, add some nice swirls with black color ( or any color you want ) and also, add a Stroke to the swirls with the color #84cde2 ( or any other color you want ) -

10. Now, add some text to it, I'm adding Fly Away... with the font Paulinho Pedra Azul and I also added a Stroke to it with a light grey color -

11. Now you're done! But re-order your layers so that they look like mine -

Save it as a jpeg or a gif file. :D
