OBD 2007 for PC installation problems The installer of OBD 2007 is based on the Microsoft installer. Part of the install process is a check to determine if your machine already has .Net Framework 2 and Sql Server Compact Edition installed. If either of these prerequisites is not found the installer is then meant to automatically download them from the Microsoft site and install them before the installation of OBD 2007 commences. It has been reported to us on a number of occasions that the installation of Sql Server Compact Edition is being skipped, even though it is not installed on your machine. This then results in a crash of OBD 2007 at start up with a long exception message indicating a Sql Ce Exception ? FileNotfoundException. We are working with Microsoft to overcome this problem. If this message does appear at start up of OBD 2007 please take the following steps to rectify the problem. Download Sql Server Compact Edition runtime from the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=%2085E0C3CE-3FA1-453A-8CE9-AF6CA20946C3&displaylang=en Once downloaded, install Sql Server Compact Edition. At the completion of the installation rerun the OBD 2007 for PC installer i.e. setup.exe from the folder you unzipped OBD2007.zip to. OBD 2007 will then successfully run and request the activation key which was supplied in our email to you.
