Historia Serj Tankian Daron Malakian Shavo Odadijan John Dolmayan wokal, keyboard gitara gitara basowa perkusja Autobiografia Serja Historia strony Serj i Daron poznali się jako członkowie dwóch różnych zespołów w połowie 1993r w studiu (oczywiście nagraniowym) w Los Angeles. Pod konies tegoż roku założyli wraz z niejakim Andy`m (tutaj możesz zobaczyć zdjęcie System Of A Down wraz z Andy`m po lewej) zespół o nazwie SOIL. Od roku 1994 menagerem grupy był Shavo. Po odejściu od zespołu basisty, Shavo zajął jego miejsce (było to na początku 1995 roku). Na początku roku 1995 zmieniono nazwę na System Of A Down stało się to przez przeczytany na próbie zespołu poemat Victims of a Down (napisany przez Daron`a). W połowie 1995 roku od zespołu odszedł dotychczasowy perkusista. Zastąpił go John Dolmayan. W 1997r. System Of A Down zaopiekował się Rick Rubin. W roku 1998 zespół wydał swoją debiutancką płytę która nazywa się po prostu "System Of A Down". Na początku 2000r. Soad zaczął pracować nad nową płytą. Napisali 51 piosenek. Nagranych zostało 33 a na płytę trafiło 14 (+4 na płytach bonusowych). Nowa płyta "Toxicity została wydana 4 września 2001r. W roku 2002 ( dokładniej chyba 26 listopada) System Of A Down wydał płytę na której znalazły się piosenki napisane do "Toxicity" i kilka nowych utworów. Płyta nosi nazwę "Steal This Album".
