Keith Negus is Professor of Musicology at Goldsmiths College, University of
London. His books include Producing Pop (1992), Popular Music in Theory
(1996) and Popular Music Studies (2002), the latter jointly edited with David
Hesmondhalgh. He is joint co-ordinating editor of the journal Popular Music .
Michael Pickering is Reader in Culture and Communications at Loughborough
University. He has also taught at the University of Sunderland and Massey
University, New Zealand. His books include Everyday Culture (1987 – co-edited
with Tony Green); History, Experience and Cultural Studies (1997);
Researching Communications: A Practical Guide to Methods in Media and
Cultural Analysis (1999 – with David Deacon, Peter Golding and Graham
Murdock); and Stereotyping: The Politics of Representation (2001).
